Looking for an Android App developer
We are looking for an Android App software developer to create a demo app using some of the technologies being developed in CompMusic for the particular case of Hindustani and Carnatic music.
Job description
The candidate will work on the design and the development of the first version of a native android application for enhanced listening of Indian art music. She/he will closely work with a team of researchers and musicians. The job requires the candidate to work remotely from India, meeting with others from the team as necessary. She/he will be required to deliver an efficient and clean implementation of the application with thorough documentation. Past experience in design and development of android mobile applications is strongly desired.
Starting date: Immediate
Duration: 6 months
Responsibilities:
Architecture, wireframing and interface design of the application
Coordinate and interact with the research team periodically during the development
Setup and maintenance of asynchronous server-application interfacing
Familiarity with external APIs (such as Wikipedia, MusicBrainz)
Setting up unit-tests for checking robustness, usability, general reliability and edge cases
Maintenance and performance improvement of the application
Required skills/qualifications:
B.Tech/BS degree or above in Computer Science or a related subject
5+ years of experience in software development
Thoroughly proficient with the Android SDK, APIs, toolchain, and related technologies with at least 2 years of experience with them
Prior experience in designing UI/UX of mobile applications
Ability to contribute and perform with minimal supervision
Desired skills/experience:
Knowledge of Android NDK & JNI
Knowledge of hybrid/HTML5 based android application development
Experience with Linux environment, bash scripting and python programming
Interest and exposure to Indian art music (Carnatic/Hindustani)
